Today, I dusted off my steel book of Weathering With You. As of writing this, I just finished watching it. The credits are still rolling. This won't be a review, but rather an opinion piece. Also, beware, spoilers!

This movie was the most bittersweet, beautiful anime movie I've seen. I didn't even watch it in good quality! The art was absolutely amazing, the shots were so pretty, and the story was amazing.

I feel so melancholic now that it's over. I love how they tackle weather and relationships. Hina lied about her age for jobs just so she could support her younger brother, who was foreshadowed near the beginning. Her relationship with the main character was absolutely awesome. He saved her from the sky because he would rather the rain than her being sacrificed for sun.

I loved the moment they reconnected after he got off parole. He grasped the ring he bought for her and him crying almost made me cry!

I'm jumping around in topics, this is just a rant but the music? It was so soft and beautiful, I loved every song they used.

The story follows a boy, aged 16, who ran away from his home. He stays and gets a job at an article making place. The owner let's him stay, and he meets a girl named Hina. She walked through a shrine, before her mother's death, and became a Sunshine Girl. As a Sunshine Girl, she can control the weather and make small pockets of sun.

In exchange for this power, she slowly starts to disappear into the sky. Everyone has dreams of her floating up into the clouds, in some way or another. The next day, she's gone.

I forgot to mention, police showed up at the article place and at Hina's house, wanting to know where Hodaka (MC) was. They also noticed that Hina and her brother were without a guardian. They threatened to call child protective services. Hodaka decided that they should run away together. They try to find a hotel, and then she disappears when they finally find one.

I adored the chase scene, where the police are chasing after Hodaka and the woman who he rode the motorcycle with. The woman was the article making places’ chief’s niece.

I really don't understand why I didn't watch this movie back when I first got the steel book. I waited 3+ years before finally sitting down and watching it. I'm definitely going to get Zupa to watch this one of these days!

I watched a lower quality version of this movie, the DVD version, because I love the look of shitty quality anime on a big TV.

Anyway, I rate this movie 9.5/10. Please, do yourself a favor and watch it!
